If you still need convincing, here are my thoughts:
Every year, I plan out what conferences I will attend to enhance my skill sets for professional growth. In February 2018, I chose to attend Social Media Marketing World in California for the first time, and it was amazing! Before I jump in and explain why you should attend SMMW, please understand that Social Media Marketing World is “a conference that offers outstanding content infused with a truly social experience” and is aimed totally toward social media marketing. The next conference is scheduled for March 20th to March 22nd in the San Diego Convention Center and is presented by Social Media Examiner, so mark your calendars NOW!
So why do I think you MUST attend Social Media Marketing World 2019?
One of the more popular networking events, and signature welcomes of SMMW, is the networking party set in a naval aircraft carrier. This is a great opportunity to meet with sponsors and speakers even before the conference officially begins. This event sets the stage for what you can expect throughout the remainder of the conference.
The agenda for SMMW is structured around networking and the opportunity to interact with other attendees. Activities such as Table Talks and Networking Power Walks, Runs, and Yoga encourage open dialogue and learning among other attendees. My first night in San Diego was spent having dinner with people who happened to be part of Social Media Marketing Society. Had it not been for SMMW, I would not have been able to meet face to face with many of these individuals.
Before I bought my ticket for Social Media Marketing World, I looked at the list of speakers. Here's the thing, SMMW has a way of bringing together a list of the best and brightest in the social media industry. Some of my favorite sessions this past year included presentations from:
In March 2019, Social Media Examiner and SMMW have managed to gather even more talented and celebrated social media aficionados as speakers in the conference. There is no specific order, but some of the speakers include Mari Smith (the “Queen of Facebook”), Andrea Vahl (a Facebook Ads Guru), Brian Fanzo (whom I plan to meet one day), and many more.
I had to put this out there because pricing is a big deal. I want you to think about all the learning and networking that is happening in THREE days before you say the ticket is too expensive. The all-access registration fee is currently on sale for 50% OFF (thru August 21st) and gives you access to: all the tracks, keynote and workshop sessions (the doors to these will only close if the room has reached capacity); full access to online recordings of these sessions; the Networking Plaza and the networking parties; and meals. There is no deadline for purchasing tickets, but the prices do increase the closer you get to the day of the conference. So even at the full price - you will not find a conference that beats this!
OMG, what can I say about San Diego? It's beautiful, plus SMMW offer highlights of activities unique to the San Diego Bay area (so consider staying a day or two after the conference is over for sight seeing).
When you register for the conference, SMMW offers a list of hotels in the area surrounding the San Diego Convention Center at a discounted price. Since hotel and travel fees are not included in the registration fee I highly recommend taking them up on their discounts and booking early.
By far, one of my favorite things about attending SMMW is that all access virtual pass. This means that while I am networking, I can still catch up on a particular session, because it is being recorded. If I missed something or want to hear a session again, I can still do that after the conference.
Attending SMMW is definitely an investment for anyone looking to grow their social media presence. The opportunity to interact and connect with business professionals from around the world is not one to pass up. Ultimately, SMMW is a conference offering a wealth of in-field knowledge, opportunities for learning, and the potential of expanding your social circle.
So, will you be there? If so, make sure you tell me in the comments that you will be there— I want to meet you!
